One of my biggest frustrations when it comes to making music is not being able to capture my idea quickly enough. Don't get me wrong it's not always about speed but my goal has always been to remove as many obstacles as possible in my music creation process so I can get to the idea quicker.
This is important when you are making music by yourself so you can keep the momentum going, but especially when you are working with artists. If you are the producer in the room for an artist's session then your job is to create the vibes for them and to do it as quickly as you can.
We Have All the Resources We Need
Studio One has a feature called Macros, which are shortcuts that allow you to combine multiple actions into one easy-to-use command.
For example, let's say you wanted to bounce a piece of MIDI to audio and then set the gain to -12dB. In any normal situation, that would be at least two tasks you would have to manually perform, but when you combine them into a Macro, that entire sequence can be achieved with a click of a button.
Work SMARTER, Not Harder
Macros can be as simple or as complicated as you want them to be and they can be built and customized to suit any part of the music creation process but I am particularly fond of creating them with beat makers in mind who use MIDI!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
No. The toolbar will ONLY work with Studio One Artist/Professional version 4.5 and above.
Technically yes, but the Toolbar was explicitly made to be used by either Impact XT or Sample One XT, both of which are native Studio One instruments.
If you wanted to use it with 3rd party drum sequencers like the Maschine software, MPC software, or Battery from Native Instruments, it would still technically work, but not without some extensive manual reconfiguring and proper knowledge of the macro ecosystem in Studio One.
If you use Impact or Sample One, you are good to go. If you use anything else to program your drums, purchase at your own risk.
No. These macros will only work in the piano roll.
There are a few macros that are universal but most of the macros in this toolbar are best used in a DAW's piano roll using MIDI.
