Fender Studio Pro 8.1 Is Here: Pitch Correction, Moises AI, and More
Fender Studio Pro 8.1 has officially landed, and it brings some of the most-requested features the community has been waiting for. In this week's video, I walk through everything that's new, from a native pitch correction plugin to a full AI integration that might just change the way you approach your sessions.
Native Pitch Correction Has Finally Arrived
The headline addition for a lot of producers and engineers is going to be Vocal Tune, Studio Pro's brand-new native pitch correction plugin. You set your root note and scale, dial in a correction percentage, and shape the vibrato to taste. Push the vibrato into negative numbers and you start to get that T-Pain effect; bring it toward 100% and the pitch smooths out. There is also a formant shift parameter that lets you reshape the tone and timbre of a vocal without touching the pitch, which opens up some creative options that previously required third-party tools.
Pitch Correction Curves on Audio Clips
Beyond the plugin, Studio Pro 8.1 also introduces the ability to draw pitch correction curves directly on individual audio clips. Rather than running a vocal correction plugin over an entire track, you can isolate a single word or phrase, create anchor points around it, and drag the pitch up or down in semitones. It is a much more surgical option for performances that are mostly in tune but need a small fix in one specific spot.
Moises AI Integration
Studio Pro 8.1 now includes a direct integration with Moises AI, accessible from a new browser tab inside the DAW. The integration brings three capabilities: stem separation, stem generation, and voice conversion. Stem separation works similarly to the native algorithm Studio Pro already has, stem generation lets you create new instrument parts from existing audio, and voice conversion transforms a recorded vocal into a different voice entirely. It is worth noting that Moises states no user content is used for AI training and that users retain full creative rights over all uploaded material.
The Studio Assistant Chatbot
Rounding out the AI additions is Studio Assistant, a new in-DAW chatbot built specifically around Studio Pro documentation. Ask it a question and it points you in the right direction (or at least tries to lol), which makes it a solid resource for anyone still getting their bearings in the software. At launch it is available in public beta for Studio Pro Plus subscribers only, with a broader rollout planned down the road.
Watch the full video above for the complete breakdown. A separate video covering the quality-of-life improvements in 8.1 is coming later this week.
