5 Studio Pro/One Shortcuts I Wish I Knew Sooner (Timeline Edition)
Learning and understanding shortcuts is one of the best ways to really master any piece of software, and that definitely applies to Fender Studio Pro and Studio One.
Here are five timeline shortcuts that changed the way I work
Replace All Events in One Move
If you need to swap out a sound that repeats throughout your arrangement, like a snare or percussion one shot, most producers do it one event at a time but there's a much faster way. Just drag your new audio clip over any existing event on the track, hold the Option or Alt key, and let go. Every event on that track gets replaced instantly.
Dynamic Horizontal Zoom
You probably already know you can zoom vertically by holding Command or Control and scrolling, but add the Shift key to that same shortcut and you unlock horizontal zoom. The best part is it's dynamic, so it zooms to wherever your cursor is sitting, letting you jump straight to any part of your arrangement without scrolling first.
Slip Edit
If you need to shift the audio or MIDI inside an event without moving the event itself on the timeline, hover over the event and hold Option or Alt plus Command or Control. Your cursor will turn into a left and right arrow symbol and from there just click and drag to slip the content left or right. Perfect for timing adjustments without disrupting your arrangement.
Ghost Copies
If your arrangement has repeating sections, this one will save you a lot of time. Click on a MIDI event and press Shift + D to create a ghost copy, a linked duplicate that updates in real time whenever you edit the original. Change the pattern once and every copy reflects it automatically. Just note that this only works with MIDI events.
Rename All Events at Once
If you've ever recorded multiple takes and ended up with a track full of events named "Take 1", "Take 2", and so on, this one is for you. Double click the track name to rename it, then hold Shift and press Enter and every event on that track will get renamed in one go. A simple thing that keeps your sessions clean and your sanity intact.
